ABOUT ME
Hello and welcome to River View Sweets!
About Me
I'm Christina, and I’m delighted to have you here. I love creating delicious sweets and sharing them with others. This has driven me to turn what I love into a little cottage bakery business and I’m excited to share my yummy creations with you. I sell baked goods from custom orders via my website or social media, I'm sometimes showing up at local markets and I have bake stands both on the road-side and river-side!
I am a wife to Tom and mom to three kids who aren’t so little anymore at the ages of 18, 19 and 23. We live in Leo, Indiana on the banks of the river near where the St. Joe River meets the Cedar Creek Reservoir. By day I’m the marketing analytics strategy lead for a medical malpractice insurance company and by night I bake and create tasty confections.
My Journey
In December 2022 I heard the words “I’m so sorry. What I see here is almost certainly cancer.” The roller coaster began and here we are in July 2025 and im FINALLY jumping off that darn thing. I did all the things to save my life: chemo, bilateral mastectomy, radiation, hysterectomy, long term hormone blockers and implants. It was then, May 2024, that I decided to start my business with the encouragement from my husband. However, just a week after my implant surgery I started seeing what I would later find out were symptoms of breast implant illness. Over the next year my health rapidly declined and doctors and tests all pointed to nothing. I should have been feeling fine. I should have been healthy. But I wasn’t. I finally found a surgeon in Chicago who removed my implants and saved my life (for the 2nd time!) So, my girls tried to kill me, not once, but twice. That surgery was May 13, 2025. I’m now 2 months away from it and I FEEL AMAZING!!
Breast Implant Illness is 100% a REAL THING! It’s not an official medical diagnosis and there’s no test to prove you are suffering from it. So, it is very hard to get treatment for it. https://www.breastcancer.org/treatment/surgery/breast-reconstruction/types/implant-reconstruction/illness/breast-implant-illness
So, while its not baking related - if you have cancer stories or BII stories to share, lets talk! I’m an open book and if I can help even one person avoid going through what I did with implants, I will be a happy girl.
Giving Back
I always said that once I came out on the other side of cancer I would find a way to give back to all those people that God used to work so hard to save my life and provide comfort to those that are facing this terrible disease. What better way to do that than with cookies? Check out my mission to provide “Cookies of Hope” for all the details. By purchasing from River View Sweets you'll be helping me provide Cookies of Hope!
Let’s Connect
